SUMMARY:UK Data Transfers: Understanding the Proposed New UK SCCs and UK Data Transfer Assessments
DESCRIPTION:WEBINAR \nREGISTER HERE \n11:00 a.m. ET | 4:00 p.m. BST | 5:00 p.m. CET\nWednesday\, September 1\, 2021 \nFollowing the release in June 2021 of the European Data Protection Board’s (EDPB) finalized Schrems II recommendations and the European Commission’s new standard contractual clauses (SCCs)\, organizations transferring personal data from the UK will now also have to consider the UK Data Transfer proposals from the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) that have recently been published in August 2021. \nWith the UK no longer a part of the EU\, the ICO has launched a public consultation on its proposals and plans for a new form of UK SCC to be called the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA)\, and a new UK transfer risk assessment (TRA)\, and guidance for international data transfers from the UK. The ITDA will act as a contract that organizations can use when transferring personal data to countries not covered by adequacy decisions and will replace the current SCCs. \nAs a continued part of a series of webinars on international data transfers\, Sidley and OneTrust DataGuidance will host a panel discussion to provide insight on the proposed UK ITDA and its provisions\, the ICO’s recommendations on carrying out a TRA\, and how organizations can approach the increasingly complex realm of international data flows. \nIn this webinar\, we are joined by a cross-industry panel\, including William Long\, Partner\, Sidley; Monika Tomczak-Gorlikowska\, CPO\, Prosus; Chris Foreman\, CPO\, Merck Sharp & Dohme; Yukiko Lorenzo\, senior managing counsel\, Mastercard; and Lee Parker\, DPO\, Biogen. \nKey Takeaways will include: \n\nIn-depth reaction and analysis of the new UK ITDA and TRA\nKey comparisons between the UK TRA and the EDPB’s Schrems II recommendations\nKey questions that remain and practical steps to take\nHow to plan for international data transfers over the next few months\n\n\nSidley Austin LLP and OneTrust DataGuidance will process delegate contact details for the purposes of organising and administering this event and for contacting you about future events. Please note that delegate contact details may be passed between Sidley Austin LLP and OneTrust DataGuidance for the above purposes. \nFor questions or more information\, please click here to contact us.
