Sidley partner Anna Remis and counsel Ash Nagdev will host a CLE panel discussion, “From Algorithm to Acquisitions: AI’s Impact on VC and M&A Deals,” during Microsoft ObtAIn, an in-person, one-day event created for in-house counsel. They will be joined by Jacob Weiner, Head of Strategic Business Development at Harvey.
Generative AI is transforming the way we work and opening up new possibilities for all industries. This often means that Legal Teams have become pivotal to assessing the risks and opportunities of AI.
Anna’s and Ash’s panel will delve into the legal nuts and bolts of AI-centered transactions, with a focus on venture capital financings as well as mergers and acquisitions. Whether a company is developing proprietary AI technology or only using licensed AI tools in its business, investors, and acquirers are focused on policies and practices surrounding AI. The panel will examine the evolving role of deal lawyers and their strategic approach to AI throughout various stages of a transaction, from due diligence to purchase agreement negotiations to post-closing integration. Additionally, they will explore the array of AI tools that legal professionals are using to get deals done.
Microsoft ObtAIn will feature a keynote from Katy Brown, CVP of Microsoft’s Enterprise Sales, Software and Digital Platforms and a Fireside Chat with John LaBarre, General Counsel of Harvey. In addition, there will be legal-focused breakout sessions on AI topics of interest including Cybersecurity, GitHub, Data Privacy and Security, CoPilot for M365, and Responsible AI Practices.
Anna Remis is a partner in Sidley’s Technology and Life Sciences Transactions practice. She has extensive experience working with clients in the emerging companies and venture capital ecosystem. Anna also counsels more established companies on intellectual property development and strategic collaborations with, investments in, and acquisitions of emerging technology companies.
Ash Nagdev is a counsel in Sidley’s Privacy and Cybersecurity practice. He advises companies on a variety of issues, including those pertaining to the CCPA, COPPA, GLBA, PCI DSS, HIPAA, Unfair and Deceptive Trade practices, state privacy and common law claims, and privacy enforcement in federal agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission. In addition, he assists companies with data breach management, privacy compliance programs, and cross-border data transfers.
